ABOUT THE ARTIST

Elinor Noteboom (1930-2014) was a multi-media artist who specialized in serigraphy (or screen-printing). She lived most of her life in Orange City, Iowa, and her work can be found all over Northwest Iowa and beyond. She played a large role in starting the art programs at Orange City Christian School and Unity Christian High School.

Elinor spoke of her creative endeavors in a very holistic way saying, “Creativity has been running at a high pitch all my life. It was not always directed at picture-making. It came out in the clothes I designed and sewed. Later, I directed it into teaching procedures and into home decorating. It can be used as a social tool, aiding one in one's relationships with other human beings.” Elinor sought out, created, and curated beauty in every area of her life which is reflected in the many works of fine art that she produced.

Elinor left behind a legacy of beauty that spilled into the lives of her children, grandchildren, and all those who were impacted by her life and art. It is her family’s hope that Elinor’s work and the stories of her life would continue to bless many.
